We are led by a temple official from the tattoo area towards an
administrative-like building that has two cast statues of tigers at the
door. The senior monk is sleeping but his direct subordinate would like to
see us. Shoes off again, we are taken up a few flights of stairs to a
larger room that has a golden Buddha and alter at the front. There is a
rich, red carpet covering the floor at the altar. When you enter a room
like this, it is customary to kneel at the alter, sitting back on your
heels, cup your hands and bow forward, holding your hands so your
fingertips are at your forehead. It is good to repeat this bowing process
a few times in respect.
